I’m based in Ashburn, Virginia, and currently interning at The Salvation Army National Headquarters. Outside my internship, I make websites for small businesses through Cagatay Creative Studio. I enjoy working on both how a website looks and how it works.
I interned with The Salvation Army’s National Headquarters digital team in summer 2026 and returned for the fall. Here are some of the projects I’ve worked on with the team.
I built this CMS from scratch during my internship. Staff can edit page content, reuse sections, and review changes before publishing, all in one place.
What staff can do with it
Staff can make small content changes without asking the National Headquarters digital team each time. They can edit pages, keep information up to date, and improve their existing sites more regularly.
Alongside school, I make websites through Cagatay Creative Studio. I talk with clients about what they need, design and build their sites, and help with hosting and updates.
My experience so far includes two internships with The Salvation Army and freelance website work alongside school.
I’ve had the chance to work on websites for a national organization and for small businesses.
School has given me a foundation in programming, data structures, and computer systems. My internship and client projects have given me a chance to use those ideas, work through bugs, and see how people use what I make.
In my summer internship, I built a CMS from scratch and worked on the volunteer page, Human Needs Index website, and conference registration tools. I returned in the fall to keep working on those projects, help move content into the CMS, and continue Better Together 2027.
My client work has also taught me how to ask questions, explain technical choices, and work with feedback. I work with clients in English and Turkish, and help with design, development, hosting, and updates after launch.
